The campaign is designed so that it can grow with our community and showcase a range of different geoscientists doing geoscience their way! There are four main considerations for new This is Geoscience campaign images:
Images should feel authentic to geoscience and showcase real-world scenarios that resonate with the sector; they should not be posed or feel overly polished, or like obvious stock images.
Use visually striking images of people in action to showcase the excitement, educational value, and career potential of geoscience, while highlighting transferable real-world skills.
Be inclusive and people centred
Images should be inclusive and represent people from a wide range of backgrounds, people engaging in geoscience should be the primary focus of images in most cases.
Images should be aligned to at least one campaign theme
Think teamwork, leadership, creativity, discovery and exploration.
If you have images that meet these criteria, as well as being in focus and of sufficient resolution to be used digitally and in print, please send them to admin@thisisgeoscience.com
Please note that you must hold the copyright to any images submitted to the campaign and have permissions from the individuals featured within them for use.
There are lots of amazing images of geoscience available, but not all of them are the right fit for the This is Geoscience campaign. Images must feature people doing geoscience, not just scenery, and they shouldn't be posed. All images need to have sufficient resolution to be used at various scales, and you must have the rights to use the image, including from anyone featured within it.
Refer to the guidelines above, and make sure that your image sparks excitement and curiosity. Below are some examples of geoscience images that didn't make the campaign as they don't satisfy all the required criteria.
